New year, same beauty products! I’ve picked up some really great and dependable beauty must-haves over the last “decade” that are so good, they’re staying with me! I’ve even included links to every product so you can add these suckers to your beauty arsenal.
Before we dive in, let me give you a brief history of my skin: It sucked up until about two years ago. Accutane saved my bacon. Since then I’ve been able to be a little more “daring” with my routine and try things I wouldn’t dream of (like BB cream) because I only felt comfortable with full-coverage products. Long and short, what I’m trying to say is that most of these products that are time-tested for me are also products that I’ve used while I’ve had pretty consistent acne/combination skin, so I feel like these products are friendly for all skin types.
Bath
This stuff is hands-down underrated and amazing and wonderful and super wonderful. It smells like heaven and the scent stays on your skin and you feel like a tropical goddess when you get out of the shower. Ya gotta get it!
Cetaphil Facial Cleanser
This product is also underrated. It’s perfect for sensitive skin because it has no fragrance and it’s not drying at all. It’s so sensitive you can even dry cleanse with this, making it a very acne-friendly face wash. This has been my go-to for the past ten years. I jump around trying to find different face washes but I always come back to this because of how sensitive yet hard-working it is.
Clarisonic Mia Prima Sonic Facial Cleansing System
This puppy right here is a pretty penny (ranging from $60 – $100, depending where you get it) but I get the best feeling skin when I use it. It exfoliates as it cleanses so it leaves your skin feeling very soft. I tend to get dry skin all year long so this cleansing brush is here to stay. You might try ebay or other sites to find a cheaper price if the one linked is not your cup of tea.
Face
This duo really is a dream team. With ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin b5, vitamin c and magnesuim, you know your skin is getting serious nourishment and brightness and bounce. Since I started using it a few months back, my skin looks brighter and feels firmer. These are here to stay, guys!
Priming Moisturizer by Glossier
Guys. I found THE moisturizer. Take it from a former acne sufferer with constant dry/oily skin, this stuff is gold. It feels like velvet on your skin and is buildable so you can add more if you feel you need more moisture. It has a anti-red complex and evens out skin texture when you put it on. It’s also fragrance-free and safe for all ages (babies!). It’s like the bb cream of moisturizers. I have completely ditched primer and use this before applying my makeup. It’s a game-changer! Please shout this from the roof-top of your location so no gal gets left behind!
Boy Brow + Generation G Duo by Glossier
This duo can stand alone in your makeup routine due to the matte richness of the lip color and the defined brows that the brow wand gives you. It’s the perfect minimal makeup look and it’s one that I’ve donned over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. I love it, especially the boy brow! It transfers little fibers on your brows and takes a little getting used to but once you’re used to it you will look so put together and understated and purty. I recommend you exfoliate your lips with a washcloth or scrub before you put the lipstick on. It’s mattifying so it’s not the smoothest to go on and having chapped lips will make the coverage a little spotty. I’m speaking from personal experience here. I wear the brown shade for the brow and the berry shade for the lips.
they’re Real! Beyond Mascara by Benefit
This mascara is so good, it’s a little too good. I usually save this mascara for special occasions or if I’m dressing up a little more than my usual because of the intense lashes I get when wearing this. It covers every lash with its unique wand and the formula stays put! I have to wash the hell out of my eyes to get this mascara off. Definitely recommend! Worth every penny!
L’oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream
This has got to be the MVP of my 2019 beauty find. It’s so, so GOOD. The coverage is insane for a bb cream and I seriously use it alone as my foundation, that’s how much I love it. The formula goes on opaque at first and matches to your skin tone, which was something I was real skeptical about since I’ve heard mixed reviews on these types of formulas. Not this one, guys. This one’s a keeper. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter
I saw this on a blogger I follow and I had to try it out. The glow it gave her skin was so pretty and all she did was apply it on the upper cheek bone to let the light catch it just right. I loved how it looked so much I ran to Walmart and got some to try for myself. The formula is super pigmented and great quality for a drugstore highlighter. I definitely recommend! It’s super metallic so be sure to apply a little at first and build up. I use it exactly the way she does and I sometimes add it to my cupids bow and my collar bone 😉
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose-Setting Powder
If you are going to give anything serious consideration on this post, it should be this right here. I’ve never used a product that was so dependable (other than the glossier moisturizer!) and fool-proof. It comes with its own applicator but I just use a brush and sweep it all over. I love the matte coverage it gives and my makeup stays put all. day. long. Once I put it on it actually changes the look of my foundation in a really good way. I can’t live without this stuff. I use it with my bb cream and I don’t have to touch my makeup until the evening when I take it off. It’s so good. I’ve used setting sprays and other powders but they all suck compared to this!

Rachel
Wow! So beautiful! I can imagine you having your own line of cosmetics! I have used for a very long time the St. Ives apricot scrub. It is an oldy but goody:) I also really like the Lancome “blur and go.” I am going to have to try some of your suggestions! Do you have a list of fragrances by any chance? I am really sensitive to smells. If I don’t like it 100 percent…i just don’t wear it. I would like to find something to wear for date nights though. Blessings and love!
